Who will benefit from using Paula’s Choice AHA Exfoliant Gel?

Anyone who suffers from sun damaged skin – dryness, sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles can really benefit from using this exfoliant gel.

This is because the 8% glycolic acid gently removes all of those dead skin cells and the antioxidants help to reverse the damage caused by free radicals.

Your skin doesn’t need to be sun damaged however, to benefit from this gentle AHA gel – if you have noticed some fine line or age sots, or your skin is looking tired and dull – then this might be the perfect solution to make your complexion look more youthful and radiant.

How do you use this AHA exfoliant?

You can use this exfoliant gel once or twice a day. So cleanse your face first and then apply a small amount of the gel over your face, avoiding your lips and eyes.

There is no need to rinse away the exfoliating gel, you can just follow with your moisturizer and makeup. Don’t forget to use a sunscreen though – because glycolic acid makes your skin more sensitive to the sun.

Key ingredients of Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting AHA Gel Exfoliant

This Skin Perfecting AHA Gel contains 8% glycolic acid, chamomile extracts, Aloe leaf juice and green tea.

It also contains propylene glycol and parabens (Methyl paraben, Ethyl paraben, Butyl paraben, Propyl paraben, Isobutyl paraben).

Paulas Choice 8 AHA Gel Exfoliant ingredients

Some people are concerned about both parabens and propylene glycol in skin care products – you can read about what the FDA says about parabens here and propylene glycol here. Essentially, at the low concentrations of both of these additives in cosmetics today, the FDA consider them to be safe.

Obviously, you are free to make your own mind up about these ingredients.

Benefits of glycolic acid

Glycolic acid is one of the most popular of the alpha hydroxy acids, because it has the smallest molecular size. This means that it can easily penetrate the top layer of your skin, dissolve the bonds that hold your dead skin cells together and whisk them away efficiently.

Removing these dead skin cells, unblocks your pores and removes blackheads, as well as helping your moisturizers and serums to be absorbed more easily into your skin.

Benefits of Green Tea

Green tea is a super antioxidant, much stronger than even vitamin C! So with green tea in your AHA gel exfoliant, as the dead skin cells are whisked away, the green tea helps to even out your skin tone and reverse any damage caused by exposure to the sun.

Green tea even encourage the exfoliation of your skin, so it makes the glycolic acid work even better – leaving you with a brighter, fresher complexion.

Benefits of Chamomile

Chamomile was used by the Ancient Egyptians as one of the ingredients in their embalming oils – as it possesses anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.

This means that it is great for healing dry skin, sunburnt skin acne and eczema. FYI: If you are allergic to the Asteraceae plant family, then you may be allergic to chamomile as well.

Benefits of Aloe

Another plant well loved by the Ancient Egyptians, Aloe Vera is well known for cellular repair and for healing sunburnt skin, reducing the inflammation of insect bites and for treating dry, flaky skin.

Aloe also contains lots of fabulous antioxidants, so it is a great all-rounder for your skin.
